Partial dentures are used to restore one or more missing teeth. They use a metal-and-plastic framework, which supports one or more false teeth. These teeth fit perfectly into the empty sockets where your missing teeth used to be. Usually, partial dentures are held in place using metal clips, which attach to your remaining healthy teeth. This prevents them from moving and ensures that you can eat, speak, and chew properly.
Partial dentures are a good option if you are missing several teeth, but your other teeth are free of any major dental issues. They are often more affordable than dental bridges and dental implants, and they are usually covered by dental insurance.
Full mouth dentures are designed to replace the upper, lower, or both arches of your teeth. To get full dentures, all of your teeth must be removed, since dentures are designed to be held in place by friction and fit perfectly over your gums. This is why full mouth dentures are usually only recommended if you are already missing most of your teeth or if you have serious oral health problems.

After you get your new set of dentures from Dr. Manish Mistry at Brightside Family Dental, he will give you a comprehensive set of instructions on how to care for your new dentures. Most of these steps are very easy to understand. Let’s discuss a few of them now.
First, you should remove your dentures and rinse them after each meal, and brush your gums or teeth, if possible, to remove food particles. You can also just rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash if you can’t brush at the time. This helps reduce food buildup and bacteria buildup.
In addition to frequent rinses, you also should brush your dentures each night before you go to bed. Use a soft bristled brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner to remove any food or other debris from your dentures. This helps keep them in good condition, reduces the risk of stains, and also helps remove denture adhesive.
Your dentures also should not be worn at night, in most cases, but they will need to be kept moist. You can soak them in water or in a denture-cleaning solution while you sleep. This keeps them moist and stops them from warping. Rinse them off in the morning before putting your dentures back into your mouth.
Take care when handling your new dentures. Dentures are quite brittle and can break if they’re dropped onto a hard sink or floor. Consider putting down a towel on the sink or putting some water in the sink bowl if you are worried about dropping your dentures while cleaning them.
If you have any other questions or concerns, Dr. Mistry can answer them at your appointment, and ensure you know everything you need to know about proper denture care in Chapel Hill.
Yes. Dentures are the most inexpensive way to replace your missing teeth, and they are almost always covered, at least partially, by dental insurance.
In addition, we offer financing for patients through CareCredit and Lending Club at Brightside Family Dental. If you cannot pay for the cost of your dentures up-front, you may qualify for interest-free financing.
If you need dentures but are not sure that you can afford them, please contact us today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Mistry. At your appointment, you can discuss the expected cost of your treatment, payment options, and other information, and get the dental care you need in Chapel Hill.
You can expect a set of dentures to last between 5-7 years, depending on how well you care for them. As you may expect, dentures experience a lot of wear & tear as you eat, chew, speak, and bite. Over time, this can warp them and damage them. Or, the shape of your gums or jaw may change, requiring a new set of dentures.
If your dentures are worn out, they may start to cause discomfort or may not fit properly, so it’s important to replace them regularly. Six-month checkups at our office with Dr. Mistry will ensure that your dentures are always in good shape, and that you can have a new set of dentures fitted if your current set is wearing out.
"We have your entire well-being in mind, not just your teeth."
