The Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST)

oral surgery dental office in Chapel Hill, NCReceding gums can weaken the teeth, and cause root damage that can ultimately lead to tooth loss. If you have considerable gum recession caused by gum disease, our team may recommend pinhole gum therapy to restore your healthy mouth.

Dr. Manish Minstry is a certified Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST) dentist. This unique, minimally invasive therapeutic method is one of the least invasive ways to restore and repair the gums, with no stitches or grafting required.

With the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique, there are no grafts, no sutures, and no incisions needed. This procedure simply involves the adjustment of the existing tissue.

Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique benefits include reduced patient discomfort, faster recovery compared to traditional grafting, no invasive surgical tools or scalpels, and no need to take donor tissue from the patient’s palate. The result? Restored natural-looking smiles and long-lasting health!

Dental Implants

Are you missing any teeth? Dr. Mistry specializes in permanent tooth restoration using dental implants!

Dental implants offer long-lasting and natural-looking results by using titanium posts implanted into the jawbone where luminous crowns can then be attached. Since they require no dietary restrictions and are built to last for life, this is an excellent way to address gaps in your smile!

We offer the following dental implant systems:

  • Single Dental Implants
  • Implant-Retained Dentures

Tooth Extractions

dental tools used for oral surgeriesTooth extractions can be performed for a number of reasons, such as in an emergency procedure after trauma or injury, an overcrowded mouth, or in the event of serious, untreatable tooth decay.

If you’re experiencing pain or discomfort, or if you have an infection caused by a tooth that is damaged beyond repair, Dr. Mistry may recommend a surgical extraction. Simple extractions can usually be performed as long as the tooth still appears above the gum line. Before any extraction is performed, our dentist will provide a thorough dental exam and take digital x-rays to determine the extent of the damage.

Root Canals

Root canal treatment is performed to remove infected areas of the soft, inner section of the tooth, also known as the pulp. When these areas become infected, patients often experience significant pain. Eventually, the entire tooth could die.

To allow for proper healing and further strengthening of the tooth, Dr. Mistry can perform root canal therapy. He’ll work to detect the issue and stop it in its tracks before it has the chance to spread through the bloodstream to the rest of the body. After treating the infection, Dr. Mistry will top off the tooth with a luminous, natural-looking dental crown.
